My opinion/reflection:
I feel like the case study is
very thorough and in-depth in terms of research and understanding the problem.
They also suggested several feasible solutions to solve the problem of small
living space. However, in my opinion, the solutions they give are very
difficult as they can only be done by the government. They also only gave
practical solutions regarding the area of living space.
The difference between this case
study and our group’s problem is the slight difference in intent. This case
study only looks for solutions to reduce the number of unhealthy and unsafe
subdivided housing. On the other hand, our group is trying to design living
spaces that are small, but effective, user-friendly, and aesthetically
appealing.
I think it is in the last point
about visual aesthetics where we will need improvements and additional
solutions to the problem. In our project, our group has agreed to approach the
problem in the design point of view too, other than only focusing the space and
area available. I think the solutions can be improved by integrating it with
effective design, for example, paint colors, use of mirrors in interior design,
houses with retractable walls, creative storage space, furniture that can be
folded and stored, etc in addition to their suggested methods.
