Often, the size of living space is not
actually decreasing, but the interior looks small due to bad design and/or poor
housekeeping. For example, a messy room with objects cluttered around causes it
to appear cramped.
Common mistakes:
- Dark wall paint: Absorbs light and gives the illusion of a smaller room.
- Lack of natural lighting (windows).
- Too many furniture.
- Furniture of different/mismatched colors.
- Furniture of different color with the wall: Do not blend in.
- Large furniture: Breaks the open space within a room.
- Tall furniture: Makes ceiling looks lower.
- Furniture blocks walking pathways: Reduces open space, dangerous and inconvenient.
- Absence of storage space: Cluttered and messy house.
